Winds of change can carry a hint of magic, and Azeroth is feeling it. With Patch 11.2.7, Warcraft is poised to deliver the weighted magic of a patch as the December 2, 2025 launch date quickly approaches. With the addition of new areas to traverse, I can assure new and old players alike will have something to look forward to.
The patch contents for The War Within expansion will also include the addition of Shadowlands Timewalking, a highly anticipated feature. It is set to deliver the Timewalking 2020 expansion dungeons as a permanent addition to the game. Along with the addition of other nostalgic realms, players can take part in evenly spaced Timewalking events, as well as the 10-week Turbulent Timeways event set to launch alongside the expansion.
This patch is not simply for nostalgic reasons; it is for looking forward as well. In addition to the temporal disarray, Blizzard is granting an early access glimpse of Player Housing, a long-awaited community desire, as well as a story epilogue that will serve as the preamble for the forthcoming Midnight expansion. This is, of course, in addition to the newer features for Player Housing. For those who prefer to pursue a goal over the course of a season, the new Timewalking campaign provides an ample amount of content from which to earn significant rewards.
What is Shadowlands Timewalking?
The Timewalking feature in World of Warcraft includes players going back to old dungeons and raids and completing them as if they were new. For the uninitiated, that means they play old expansions, where their heroes’ power and equipment gets downgraded to the era of the content to make it a challenge and authentic experience. It’s one of those systems that keeps other players and stacks relevant to their systems to other players who don’t play as much, so they get unique transmogrification gear, mounts, and unique tokens for special vendors.
With the new addition of Patch 11.2.7, the afterlife realms from the Shadowlands expansion are now added to the rotation. Although Blizzard hasn’t confirmed the full list, data mining suggests the following six dungeons are part of the new addition.
- The Necrotic Wake
- Spires of Ascension
- Plaguefall
- Halls of Atonement
- De Other Side
- Sanguine Depths
The Shadowlands expansion is the last of the modern expansions, so now every expansion from WoW has Timewalking dungeons, allowing players to have a wide range to complete for additional weekly rewards. The calendar does not have a Timewalking raid for this period, so players will be concentrating on the dungeons.
The 10-Week Campaign for the Turbulent Timeways will commence to celebrate the addition of Shadowlands Timewalking. This is a segment of the Timewalking campaign that lasts for 10 weeks and is not integrated with other events. It will feature Shadowlands dungeons and stretch from the beginning of the expansion.
According to the Midnight Alpha Calendar , tentative program is as follows.
Week Starting: Timewalking Expansion
2nd december Shadowlands
9 december Mists of Pandaria
16 december Classic
23 december Legion
30 december Cataclysm
6 january The Burning Crusade
13 january Warlords of Draenor
20 january Battle for Azeroth
27 january Wrath of the Lich King
3 february Shadowlands
This expanded timewalking event is very helpful for players who are leveling new characters. Players can receive the ‘Time Mastery’ buff for completing dungeons during the event, which can increase experience gain by as much as 30%. Additionally, the achievement titled ‘Master of the Turbulent Timeways’ will be given to players who participate in at least 5 of the 10 offered weeks.
Mounts and Rewards Progression
Many collectors would consider the new mount rewards as the true highlight of this Timewalking campaign. The achievement grants a voucher redeemable for the player’s selection of one of four beautifully crafted, Shadowlands-inspired, bronze mounts:
- Bronze Aquilion
- Bronze Corpsefly
- Bronze Gravewing
- Bronze Wilderling
These mounts seamlessly combine the Shadowlands’ cosmic elements with the Timewalking feature’s bronze, time-tinged finish. Players who do not complete the achievement or want to obtain all mounts will likely be able to buy the other mounts for Timewarped Badges, the currency obtained from all Timewalking dungeons. This achievement system offers a powerful and compelling incentive to participate in the Timewalking content across the 10-week period.
Patch 11.2.7 Other than Timewalking
Shadowlands Timewalking’s debut may be the main focus of the patch, but Blizzard is also using 11.2.7 to set the stage for the rest of the game. There is also no shortage of meaningful additional content:
Through the Community’s Excitement, Patch 11.2.7 will provide early access to the much-awaited Player Housing system to players who have pre-ordered the Midnight expansion. This is a thrilling first look at a system that is set to change the face of personalization in WoW.
Pandaren’s Heritage Armor will finally be obtainable, allowing players to earn a unique transmog set and explore the culture of the wandering and much-beloved race from Pandaria.
Patch 11.2.7 will be the last for The War Within, and with it Blizzard will bring the patch’s story to a close with an epilogue, providing the first steps into the narrative that would be developed for Midnight to ensure the two expansions flow into each other seamlessly.
Conclusion: A Busy End to the Year
Shadowlands Timewalking has been announced alongside the Turbulent Timeways event, which seems to indicate that Blizzard wants to end 2025 with a bang. Starting December 2nd, players can enjoy new dungeons, bronze mount rewards, player housing, and the next chapter of the Worldsoul Saga.
